24 Oct The Experience Economy
Black Tomato has launched a travel app “Get Lost” for lost souls to rediscover themselves on this journey. It’s a brilliant idea and pushing the envelope of experiential travel, learning about yourself through the journey and disconnecting from digital distractions.
“Your journey will be closely tracked by Black Tomato’s experienced expedition operations teams as a safety net. You won’t see them but they’ll always be able to see you.”
As for me, life itself is risky business enough, I don’t need to choose to go on these expenditures and adventures to “find myself”.
There’s another company doing experiential travel for people looking for bigger and greater purpose in their lives. Chosen Experiences brings together like minded individuals on their journey of self discovery and exploration. It doesn’t say on the site, but I think they select participants to make sure they have a good group with the same energy and at similar points in their lives.
“Derived from the Japanese word [sho-zen: to challenge], Chōsen experiences combine physical, social, intellectual and emotional elements to form perfectly curated weeks in exclusive locations around the world. Every detail is designed to challenge, change and rejuvenate you by pushing you outside of your comfort zone to make you stronger, healthier and happier every day.”
It will be interesting to see how these unique experiences can be woven in partnership with luxury hotel accommodations or how Airbnb might find its place to complement these innovative form of experiential travel.
